In this session, we will discuss the role technology can play in postoperative patient safety through the concept of the electronic safety net. We will cover the benefits technologies can bring to quality of care but also potential risks for patient safety. Finally, we will discuss how emerging technologies, especially artificial intelligence and the use of large datasets can potentially perpetuate health care disparities and impact patients safety if not developed and implemented with these core concepts in mind.
