President-Elect (Vote to Approve)

Clyde Matava, MD

Dr. Matava is an active member of STA and has served as STA’s Director at Large International. He is Staff Anesthesiologist at SickKids Hospital and Associate Professor at the University of Toronto and is the Associate Chief of Perioperative Services for Bioinformatics and the Director of Anesthesia Informatics, Innovation and Technology in the Department of Anesthesia at SickKids. Dr. Matava has created and designed several apps, won several teaching and innovation awards. His current work focuses on the use of 3D printing, Virtual Reality, and machine learning to improve outcomes in medical education and patient care. He is also co-director of the SickKids’ and University of Toronto’s VR lab - CHISIL that is researching the use of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality in medicine. His clinical interests include airway management and regional anesthesia. He has served as the President of the Canadian Pediatric Anesthesia Society.

Asad Siddiqui, MD, FRCPC, M Ed

Dr. Siddiqui is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto and a Pediatric Anesthesiologist at the Hospital for Sick Children. He is the director of pediatric liver transplant anesthesia at SickKids and has helped lead the initiative for storage of operating room physiologic data. His current research focuses on the utilization of high-frequency waveform physiologic data for risk modelling in the perioperative period using traditional and machine learning techniques. He is a previous Neurowave Research Grant recipient and has published on the use of performance prediction in simulation using deep learning from this work. 


At Large Industry Director (Vote for One)

Justin Adams, BSEE, MBA

Justin Adams is the Chief Executive Officer of AlertWatch, which was recently acquired by BioIntelliSense, Inc. He has overseen all facets
of the firm, including the commercialization of its FDA 510(k)-cleared AlertWatch:OR, AlertWatch:OB and AlertWatch:AC monitoring solutions. Justin co-authored two design patents involving the innovative AlertWatch display, and he continues to code in Objective-C and Swift for fun. 
Prior to joining AlertWatch, Justin worked in the automotive, investment banking, and venture capital industries. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, and an MBA from the Ross School of Business. 
Justin has enjoyed collaborating with the STA Board, and he looks forward to helping STA carry out its first post-pandemic in-person annual meeting. He will focus on strengthening STA’s role as the premiere organization supporting anesthesia’s critical role in healthcare innovation.


Klaus Hoerauf, MD, PhD, DBA

Dr. Hoerauf currently serves as World Wide Vice President, Medical & Scientific Affairs and Clinical Development for Medication Delivery Solutions (MDS) business unit and as the VP for Corporate Enterprise Programs at Becton, Dickinson, and Company (BD).
In this role, he leads Medical & Scientific Affairs, HEOR and Global Clinical Development (Evidence Generation, Innovation & Business Development, Medical Market Shaping, Key Opinion Leader and Customer Engagement, Compliance, Safety & Quality Support), serving the MDS Business Unit (~4 billion $ revenue) globally. In addition he oversees BD’s associate specimen collection programs.
Dr. Hoerauf has an MD and a Doctorate in Cardiology from the Medical University of Münster, Germany, a Doctorate in Business Administration from the Allensbach University, Konstanz, Germany, has been a Colonel (R) of the German Armed Forces and has been appointed as Assoc. Professor of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria. He is certified in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Pain Therapy.

Jason Case, BSE, MS

Jason Case currently serves as Vice President of Research & Development within Medtronic’s Patient Monitoring operating unit. 
With more than 2 decades in the medical device industry, Jason has had the opportunity to research, develop, market, and sell innovative diagnostic and therapeutic systems and devices in interventional cardiology, interventional oncology and patient monitoring. 
An intrapreneur, he enjoys spending time driving disruptive digital innovation from within Medtronic.
